Where we are ...
Oliveti Clinic Project is a community-based project. Our community indentify the need in the community, and initiate the project. Some of the villagers in Choiseul Province help us to get the project to a start.
However, we need extra assistance to complete the project. Additional hardware materials will help us to complete the project.
Our greatest community need is to build a Rural Health Clinic in our village.
Purpose of this website ...
Our village is a traditional village, and Villagers live subsistance lifestyle. Most of our village activities involve managing our vegetable gardens, hunting/gathering, and doing routine daily activities in our village.
Our Island ...
The traditional name of our Island is Lauru. It is one of the eight major islands in Solomon Islands. However, through the course of history our island had Spanish and French influences. The Spanish initially gave our island the name San Marcos. Then the French arrived and ascribed the name Choiseul. Therefore, our island is now officially called Lauru or Choiseul.

The Oliveti village is on the South west of Choiseul Province in Solomon Islands. It usually takes 5 - 7 hours of bush tracking on the bush trails to walk from Voza village (with a clinic) on the coast to Oliveti village. Sometimes it may take 8 hours, when carrying loads.
The trip involves few challenges. It includes crossing of the longest river (Vachu) in Choiseul Province, and use of rafts along the way.
