OLIVETI CLINIC PROJECT
Summary of the history ...
The people of Oliveti village identified the needs for a clinic at Oliveti village. A project idea was born. It was a Community-based project. You can read the stories on this website to understand the experiences of the people of Oliveti village that gave motivated the people of Oliveti village to decide to build a clinic.
The Chief and people of Oliveti village shared their needs with Lindsay Galo Sisiolo. As a resulr, Lindsay shared the needs of Oliveti village with Pr Isaac Molea, and other villagers around Lauru Island.
The people of Oliveti village and other villages around Lauru agreed to build a clinic for Oliveti village - without money available at that time. All the villagers had were village resources, and Lauru Will Power.
A carpenter at Ghoghobe Seventh-day Adventist Church station created the design for the staff house, and the clinic building.
Pr Isaac Molea requested the Solomon Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventist Church (SIM) Headquater at Lunga, Honiara for financial help. Thus, SIM provided some fund for the project. The project team in Lauru bought the roofing iron.
At that time Lindsay Galo Sisiolo took the responsibility as the Project manager. Pr Isaac Molea supported Lindsay. Both Lindsay and Pr Molea involved villagers around Lauru to help. You read the stories and see photos of other villages in Lauru who helped Oliveti village.
It is so wonderful to hear stories about the personal sacrifices of the people of Lauru who helped Oliveti village. Those people were real heroes. The villagers worked free as local volunteers with their own resources. The villagers did what they could. The project only bought roofing iron, and cut some timbers. The project needed more money. The project team looked for extra money. That was when Lindsay requested Lauru Supporting Ministry in Australia for extra support to complete the project.
Lauru Supporting Ministry (LSM) agreed to help. But no money was available.
LSM created new project organisational structure to move the project forward. LSM performed the role of Portfolio management. The people in Lauru managed the project team in Lauru, and Rotary Club managed the overseas project part of the Oliveti clinic project. Hence, multiple projects worked together for the Oliveti clinic project.
Pr Isaac Molea retired. Pr Harsler Polosovai took over the responsibility of Pr Isaac Molea to help Linday in project management.
LSM contacted few potential donors in Australia. Eventually, LSM secured the sponsorship of Rotary Club of Rockhampton Fitzroy in Queensland, Australia. See the website for more information.
LSM created networks to involve Choiseul Provincial Health Headquater at Taro on the project. The community-based project to build the Oliveti clinic. Unfortunately, Choiseul Provincial Health Headquater at Taro did not give a positive reply. Nevertheless, LSM asked the Choiseul Provincial Health Headquater at Taro for the goverment Functional Design Brief document for building clinics. LSM management knew that the Ministry of Health in Honiara had Functional Design Brief document, and template architectural designs for building clinics. If Choiseul Provincial Health Headquater at Taro provided the Functional Design Brief document or government architectural designs, LSM would have involved architects and engineers in Australia. To improve on the structures in progress at Oliveti clinic project. But Choiseul Provincial Health Headquater at Taro did not reply to emails and phone calls. Thus, LSM could not help the Oliveti project team in Lauru to modify the clinic designs, and strcutures. Hence, LSM advised the Olivetic clinic project team to maintain the local designs and structures for the staff house, and the clinic building.
Therefore, LSM collaborated with Rotary Club of Rockhampton Fitzroy, and the project team in Lauru to complete the staff house, and the clinic building with the structures that existed.
Choiseul Provincial Assembly passed a motion to include the proposed Oliveti clinic as a Choiseul Province clinic.
The team of Rotary Club of Rockhampton Fitzroy visited Oliveti clinic for site visit, and for construction phase to complete the project.
LSM closed the project during the opening of the Oliveti clinic on Thursday, 28 February 2019. All Glories to God.
Unfortunately, Choiseul Provincial Health Headquater at Taro could staff nor operationalise the clinic. As a result, the clinic was without staff and supply for more than a year.
LSM still wants to know about Olivetic clinic. LSM wants to know how the new facilities serve the people of Oliveti village. If you have any news or photos about Oliveti clinic, you can contact LSM via this website. Also, you contact LSM via:
